The guide to Windows Passwordless with Allthenticate. This will walk you through the entire process of using Allthenticate to turn your smartphone into a FIDO 2.0 certified passkey to login to Windows and other Microsoft web services.
Pre-requisites
(Make sure your OS version is Windows 10 v1907 or higher)
- Also make sure you have a Pro version of Windows and not Home. Check by going into Settings → System → About → Windows specifications
- Computer is Entra joined (verify with command:
dsregcmd /status
)
- You have local administrator privilege on the machine
Step 1: Install the software and App
Use this link to install the desktop software and the Allthenticator app on your phone.
Step 2: Pair your phone
Confirm your email in the app, and then use the app to scan the QR code that pops up on your computer.
Step 3: Enable security key sign-in with Group Policy
- Press the Windows key and type
gpedit
- Select Run as administrator (not required on most machines)
- Select Yes when prompted to run the app in elevated mode

- Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Logon
- Double-click on Turn on security key sign-in and select Enabled followed by OK
